CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao: Police, acting on a tip from concerned citizens, arrested Tuesday two suspected drug peddlers in Marawi City and seized PHP102,000 worth of suspected shabu.
Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale, director for Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO-BARMM), on Wednesday said police operatives seized 33 pieces of heat-sealed shabu with an estimated weight of 15 grams.
He identified the suspects as Mohammad Omar Dimaporo, 44, of Barangay Renabor, Bayang, Lanao del Sur, and Dan Johnson Partos, 35, of Barangay Suarez, Iligan City.
He said the operation was carried out by the Marawi City Police Office with support from the National Bureau of Investigation Iligan City District Office.
“The buy-bust operation was launched after a series of intelligence gathering and surveillance conducted against the suspects,” Ugale said.
The suspects will be charged with the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act 2002.
Since January 2021, the PRO-BARMM has seized some PHP50 million worth of illegal drugs in various operations in the region.
Some 15 big-time drug dealing suspects had also been arrested and charged for illegal drug-related activities.
