COTABATO CITY: A total of 382 patients have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Region 12 (Soccsksargen) as of Tuesday, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.
Arjohn Gangoso, DOH-12 health education and promotion officer, said Wednesday of the total recoveries, South Cotabato logged the highest number with 169; followed by General Santos City with 94; North Cotabato, 54; Sarangani, 35; and Sultan Kudarat, 30.
“The number of recoveries encouraged us to strive more in contact tracing and testing of those exposed to Covid-19 to let those infected be isolated properly,” Gangoso said.
A total of 182 new cases were also reported on the same day – 76 from General Santos City; 66 from South Cotabato; 19 from Sultan Kudarat; 13 from North Cotabato; and eight from Sarangani.
“We are continuously watching closely over General Santos City and South Cotabato due to the high numbers of new cases,” he said.
He added that cumulative recoveries in the region since March last year is at 16,842 for an 80 percent recovery rate.
Active cases are at 3,486 with South Cotabato on top with 1,473; North Cotabato, 687; General Santos City, 669; Sarangani, 394; and Sultan Kudarat, 263.
The total coronavirus death toll in the region stands at 641.
