ILIGAN CITY: The Maranao People Development Center (MARADECCA) Inc.a Non-Government Organization headed by Mr. Salic Ibrahim is conducting a Free X-Rayprogramto the entire community of Mindanao in partnership withan international NGO, Philippine Businessfor Social Progress (PBSP). The program started in the fourth week of April 2021 up to date.
Juffali C. Pama, MARADECCA’s Field Coordinator assigned in Lanao del Sur said the program is an access TB program that aims to find out whether the Tuberculosis (TB) cases situation in the country has increased or decreased.
“Kasi alam po natin na sa entire world kasi, ang second problem po natin na diseases is the bacteria disease in which Tuberculosis. So ngayon nagconduct kami [ng program] together with the PBSP.”
[Because we know that in the entire world, our second problem of diseases is the bacterial diseases in whichTuberculosis. So we conducted[a program] togetherwith the PBSP.]
Pama said their usual target clients are those who have symptoms and sign of symptoms. Now, there is a chance that one has no sign of symptoms but can still be positive to theTB. That is why they opened the program to those 18 years old and above and to those who are exposed to the community.
On June 21-22, 2021, MARADECCA Inc. conducted a two-day access TB program in the Municipality of Mulondo through the initiative of Local Government of Mulondo headed byMayorNihara M. Panandigan and Medical Health Officer Dr. Noraida S. Dima.
In a statement, LGU Mulondo said Councilor Amenollah P. Mala, who is the chairperson on Health, welcomed everyone and gave insights on the said program. The lady mayor together with her better half Hakim Bert O. Panandigan, also undergone the Free X-Ray.
Moreover, the Local Chief Executive (LCE)extendedher gratitude to Maranao People Development Center (MARADECA)Inc.,Philippine Business for Social Progress(PBSP), SB members, Rural Health Unit (RHU), Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), and everyone who made the said program successful.
It has been said that more than 200 have already availed in the free X-Ray program.
Meanwhile, Mayor Nihara M. Panandigan shared her experience during her first dose of vaccination last June 15, 2021. According to her, prior to her vaccination she prayed to God that the vaccine would be good for her health. She is very thankful to God because after a week, she did not experience those bad side effects as others are saying.
She assures everyone that she did not feel any side effects and their second dose of vaccine will be on July 13, 2021.
Panandigan will still follow the health protocols despite being vaccinated and will not rely on it as she believes that the vaccine serves as one of our protections to ourselves against COVID-19 and that we still need to be careful. The Ranao Star
