MARAWI CITY, May 17 — To emphasize the value of the pursuit of peace, Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM), the local government of Marawi and its partner organizations kicked off the conduct of Marawi Week of Peace this year.
With the theme: “Peace Starts with Us: Give, Work, and Share.” various activities are lined up from May 17 to May 23.
TFBM Field Office Manager Asec. Felix Castro Jr. shared that this series of activities aimed at reminding the residents to cooperate in attaining peace in their communities.
“Gusto natin iremind ang mga residente na isapuso ang kahalagahan ng kapayapaan,” said Castro during the Mashuara episode of DXSO Radyo Pilipinas Marawi.
[We want to remind the residents to engrave the importance of peace in their hearts.]
Lined-up activities of the said event aim to provide socio-economic support, spiritual development, and continuous citizen engagement for the community of Marawi. These include peace conversations, distribution of assistance, provision of services, medical and dental missions, among others.
National Housing Authority will provide free engineering, architectural design assistance for homeowners inside Marawi’s most affected area.
The local government of Marawi will distribute 25 kilos of rice to displaced families living in transitory shelters. Beneficiaries of Iskolar ng Marawi will also receive their assistance.
Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process will spearhead peace conversation with youth and women at different transitory shelters while the International Organization for Migration will conduct a social cohesion program.
World Vision Philippines will distribute school kits to students in H. Hassan Memorial School, Tuca-Boganga Elementary School, Cadayonan Elementary School, Sikap Elementary School and Abdulasiz Elementary School.
Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Technical Education and Skills Development Authority held a demonstration of agricultural skills to persons deprived of liberty and will distribute vegetable seeds.
The Department of Education will conduct a feeding program and will distribute vegetable seeds to residents in Hadiya Village in Barangay Dulay West.
Furthermore, Masjid Darussalam, Masjid Disomangcop, Barangay Tolali complex and Central Material Recovery Facility in the city are set to be inaugurated.
Inside Marawi’s MAA, groundbreaking ceremonies will also be held for the construction of 8 school buildings, convention center, and Sarimanok Sports Stadium.
Other agencies and organizations that have activities for the week are Department of Trade and Industry, Community and Family Services International, Save the Children, Plan International, MARADECA, National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, Raheemah Peace Weavers Producer Cooperative, Islamic Relief, 12th Civil-Military Operations Battalion, 103rd Infantry Brigade, Thuma, Lumbay Ka Marawi, among others. Philippine Information Agency
