DR. FILEMON G. ROMERO WRITES 30

One of the pioneer-columnists of the Philippine Muslim Today who was suffering from Covid-19 illness has passed away due to the loss of oxygen aboard a commercial boat.

Dr. Filemon G. Romero, writing a column for Philippine Muslim Today on eco-tourism, died on Sunday morning, May 16, 2021, while on board MV Kristel Jane, a commercial boat coming from Bongao, Tawi-Tawi bound to Zamboanga City via Jolo.

As the boat was near the sea of Jolo, the Oxygen level of Dr. Romero, according to an informant, almost exhausted with a remainder of 60 only. The boat was not allowed to dock at Jolo by the Sulu IATF since he is COVID-19 Positive. The boat made a direct trip instead and arrived in Zamboanga City at past 1:00 am and his Cadaver was met by Zamboanga City IATF. So he died due to the breathing problem.

Meanwhile, it was said Romero was injected the first dose of Sinovac Vaccine.

Aside from being a PMT columnist, Dr. Romero who held a Ph.D. in Oceanography was former Chancellor of Mindanao State University-Tawi-Tawi campus. He is also a lifetime member of Alpha Sigma Phi-1845 (Chairman of Lupah Tawi-Tawi ASP Alumni Association.) As an environmentalist, he is World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

As of posting, the cadaver of Dr. Mon Romero is now at Funenaria Villa near the Zamboanga General Hospital. There is no more wake at the funeral parlor since he will be buried today (Monday) May 17, 2021 at 4:00 p.m, at LUND CEMETERY near WestMinCom in Calarian, Zamboanga City.

  1. This process of transporting covid patients without adequate medical support needs to be investigated thoroughly. No one deserves to die like that, struggling for oxygen.
