COTABATO CITY: Anti-narcotics operatives arrested Wednesday afternoon a couple and seized from them some PHP6.8 million worth of suspected shabu during a drug buy-bust operation in Marawi City.
Director Juvenal Azurin, of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), identified the suspects as Ating Pundogar, 40; and his wife, Norhata, 39, both residents of Marawi City.
“This is a big catch, we busted a big-time syndicate involved in the drug trade,” Azurin told reporters here as he lauded the participation of other law enforcement units in Marawi, including soldiers from the Philippine Army’s 103rd Infantry Brigade.
The couple was arrested after selling a kilo of shabu to an undercover agent along the national highway in Barangay Matampay.
Seized were a kilo of shabu in small packs, the couple’s red Kia vehicle, several stacks of “boodle” (fake) money with one genuine PHP1,000 bill on top, and mobile phones they were using in illegal activities.
The couple is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
