MANILA: Two police officers died of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), bringing the police force’s death toll from the disease to 15.
In a statement, PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said the two latest deaths is a 45-year-old policeman assigned at the Aviation Security Group, who passed away on August 12 and a 52-year-old assigned at Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, who died on Thursday.
As of Thursday night, the number of Covid-19 infections among policemen has reached 3,153 as the PNP Health Service reported 55 new confirmed cases, most of whom came from the National Capital Region Police Office.
A total of 2,283 personnel have recovered from the disease while the health service is also monitoring 751 probable cases and 2,546 suspected cases.
