ZAMBOANGA CITY: The chief of the City Health Office (CHO) reiterated an appeal to the public to strictly follow health protocols, as the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) has now infected 34 barangays.
Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite issued the call Thursday as she identified the top barangays here with Covid-19 cases as San Jose Gusu with 23; Sto. Niño 22; Calarian, 13; Mampang and Tetuan, 11; Talon-Talon, 10; and Campo Islam, eight.
Miravite said other barangays with registered Covid-19 cases are Arena Blanco, Baliwasan, Cabatangan, Calarian, Camino Nuevo, Campo Islam, Cawit, Culianan, Divisoria, Canelar, Guiwan, Kasangyangan, Maasin, Mampang, Mercedes, Pasonanca, Putik, Salaan, San Jose Cawa-Cawa, San Jose Gusu, San Roque, Sangali, Sinunuc, Sta. Barbara, Sta. Catalina, Sta. Maria, Sto. Niño, Talon-Talon, Tetuan, Tugbungan, Tumaga, Zambowood, Zone 1, and Zone 2.
She said the city government will continue to strengthen the compliance of minimum health standards, such as the use of face masks, frequent hand washing and sanitizing safe physical distancing, and movement restrictions except for essential purposes.
This city was reverted to general community quarantine from the less-restrictive modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) effective July 16 due to the surge in Covid-19 cases.
As of Thursday, this city logged a total of 456 cases, 238 of which are active, with 206 recoveries and 12 deaths.
