COTABATO CITY: Fifteen coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients in this city have already recovered out of 22 total confirmed infections as of Tuesday (July 21).
The Cotabato City Health Office (CHO) said the number of recoveries represents an equivalent of 68 percent recovery rate.
Meanwhile, CHO said that a five-year-old boy is the latest Covid-19 patient carrier in this city, which has declared a “red alert” status to prevent local transmission of the virus.
“Our health workers are still determining the travel history of the child and his parents as part of contact tracing,” Dr. Meyasser Patadon, city health chief, said on Tuesday.
Cotabato City Mayor Frances Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi also issued a directive on Tuesday that prohibits the entry of any individual in this city’s villages without a certificate of acceptance from the barangay officials.
Guiani-Sayadi said many of those who tested positive for Covid-19 were from other areas but have sought temporary shelter from relatives in this city while a family member is undergoing treatment here.
The mayor said a non-resident may enter and stay in the city, but one has to undergo a rapid test for Covid-19.
She said a “bona fide” resident would certify in writing that he or she knows the person before a certificate of acceptance is issued.
