COTABATO CITY: The office of Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) parliament speaker Pangalian Balindong has assisted front-liners in the fight against coronavirus disease by providing KN95 face masks to at least two district hospitals and four rural health units (RHUs) in Lanao del Sur on Monday.

Balindong and his staff have distributed a total of 4,000 KN95 masks to Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr. Al-Haj Memorial Hospital, the Balindong District Hospital, and the RHUs of Kapatagan, Ditsaan-Ramain, Balabagan, and Picong.

“As we face the challenges brought about by this coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) global pandemic, we are all fighting for the safety of our lives,” Balindong said in a statement on Tuesday. “Amidst this crisis, let us not forget that we also have our equally important front-liners and they too deserved to be recognized and feel our presence.”

Dr. Mashiding Lomandong, chief of Balindong District Hospital, lauded the official’s efforts to equip the front-liners with protective provisions.

“We are extremely grateful since this is the first time that we received a donation from the BTA parliament,” Lomandong said.

Julieta Raymundo, a public health nurse of Kapatagan, said that apart from the assistance from the Ministry of Health- BARMM, it was the first time that they received masks donation.

“Thank you for giving us another motivation to work even harder for the welfare of our people in these trying times,” Raymundo said.

Aside from the hospitals and RHUs, the BARMM parliament speaker has also distributed a number of the same masks to the Liga ng mga Barangay of Malabang and various medical specialists in the province.

Earlier, Balindong also donated around 3,000 KN95 masks to the Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City.
