Diwan is the forefather of Bayang whose descendants and offsprings comprise the people of present-day Bayang, one of Lanao del Sur’s towns, and the seat of one of the royal houses of Lanao in the long-cherished royal tradditions of the Maranao people.
‘Siyap ko Moriatao Diwan’ is a project of the municipal government of Bayang undertaken by its mayor Aslani Pangarungan Balt to extend relief assistance to needy descendants of Diwan affected by the community quarantine due to the dreaded disease not only within but also outside the muncipality.
Bayang municipal mayor Balt said he’d see to it that, “God willing, no one among us Moriatao Diwan shall get hungry due to this trial of Allah, Covid-19.”
