COTABATO CITY: Officials in the Sultan Kudarat town of Lambayong have imposed a lockdown on a village where a 56-year-old woman showed symptoms of 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Monday.
Lambayong Mayor Ferdinand Agduma said the woman who tested positive from a rapid anti-body test is now categorized as “suspect” for Covid-19 after experiencing coughs and difficulty in breathing.
Agduma said the village of Midtapok was under “strict lockdown” while everyone in the village undergoes a 14-day quarantine. The woman is now confined at a private hospital in neighboring Tacurong City and is in stable condition.
“People in the village, especially her neighbors were alarmed that the woman could be Covid-19 positive,” Agduma said in a radio interview.
She said the patient, who has a fever and volunteered to be sent to the hospital due to hypertension, has no travel history in any area where confirmed Covid-19 cases were reported.
Agduma assured that the municipal health office and the local inter-agency task force are working to ensure all the constituents are “safe and free from the virus.”
In Region 12 (Soccsksargen), the city of Tacurong remains the only place where a Covid-19 positive patient died at a hospital in March. He was identified as PH600.
The Soccsksargen Region–comprising the provinces of North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and the cities of Cotabato, Kidapawan, Tacurong, and General Santos City–earlier reported 14 other Covid-19 positive patients although all have already recovered.
