MARAWI CITY: The provincial government of Lanao del Sur has created an inter-agency task force against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) regarded as a matter of serious and urgent concern globally.
In a statement on Monday, Provincial Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong, Jr. said his office ordered the creation of Lanao del Sur Inter-Agency Task Force Against the Novel Coronavirus (n-CoV) Acute Respiratory Disease (ARD) now officially known as COVID-19 to deal with the virus.
Alonto said the Task Force (in short as LDS COVID-19 Task force) was “able to promptly jump into action to prepare for the virus,” adding that it had been meeting and planning its response from early this month (February).
The governor said: “While the LDS COVID-19 Task Force continues the mandate including surveillance to assess the threats of possible entry of this virus in the province, establish necessary precautionary measures and outline specific course of action to contain and handle COVID-19, among others, we wish to remind the public that practicing proper hand hygiene and cough etiquette is still the best way to protect oneself from this virus.”
He urged the public to help monitor, share and spread only validated information and accurate data from official sources to prevent panic and confusion. “Let us all work togrther and help each other to limit the spread of this virus,” added Adiong. (RSP)
