MARAWI CITY: Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative (Lasureco) tenders a thanksgiving in honor of the party-list representative of Rural Electric Consumers and Beneficiaries of Development and Advancement (Recoboda) on Saturday held at the electric coop satellite billing office here.

Dr. Nordjiana L. Dipatuan-Ducol, Lasureco general manager, welcomed Recoboda officials headed by its party-list representative Godofredo N. Guya as well as other guests present.

GM Ducol was grateful that Lasureco has been graced by the congressman and his party in the thnksgiving program.

She said they have been very helpful to the electcric coop.

During the occasion, Representative Guya expressed his thanks to Lasureco GM Dipatuan-Ducol and her staff and employees.

Guya said he is thankful that Lasureco did deliver votes for Recoboda in the last elections more than what was expected. This helped the Party-List to have seat in the House.

As a token of gratitude, the party-list representative handed over P100,000 as Recoboda’s cash gift to Lasureco.

He said there are four party-lists who represent their sector in Congress. On his part, he said he will do his best for the electric cooperatives.

He said salary increase for Lasureco’s personnel has been approved and the amount for a beautiful office building of Lasureco has been released.

He urged Lasureco to perform and make the operations of the cooperative better. He said that to justify salary increase and incentives, it is important to deliver.

Guya who is against privatization of electric cooperatives said the Lanao del Sur cooperative is possible target of privatization by the Oligarch.

“Don’t tell me that you will be retained once privatized. They will declare all positions vacant and they will pay you all even how much,” he said, adding that, “We must perform well” to prevent it.

In the House of Representatives, Guya encourages Electric Cooperatives (ECs) and Member Consumer Owners (MCOs) to stand against privatization as one of the major points of his privilege speech last August 5.

In privatization, “ECs and MCOs will have to give up their ownership to people whose priority is not the welfare of the country if this [privatization] materializes,” he said.

But Guya was elated to see that Lasureco is performing better in terms of collections and technical standing. (RSOY)
