A small but enthusiastic group of alumni welcomed the president of the Mindanao State University System (MSUS) upon his arrival this evening at Toronto’s Pearson Int’l Airport.
A small but enthusiastic group of alumni welcomed Dr. Habib W. Macaayong upon his arrival this evening at Toronto’s Pearson Int’l Airport. The president of the Mindanao State University Systems (MSUS) is in town a few days ahead of the international MSU alumni gathering slated July 12-14 in Mississauga, Ontario.
President Macaayong is accompanied on this trip by his beautiful lady, the former Pamela Biston, and Atty. Renato Pacaldo, Acting Executive Director, International and Linkages Office.
While in Ontario, the presidential party will be billeted at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel which is also the venue of the reunion.
Different alumni are taking turns in hosting the visitors from Marawi as they visit different places of interest in the area, notably the Aga Khan Museum which MSUAA President Bob Lim had highly recommended for the President to visit.
MSUAA North America chapter president Malou Resmori expressed confidence that alumni in Ontario will live up to its image as great hosts who will not leave any stone unturned to make the visit of the VIPs from the MSU campus a memorable one.
Meanwhile, Portia Lerios Ouano, chair of the local organizing committee of the reunion, says it’s definitely all-systems go come Friday, July 12th, and asks everybody to register as early as they could at the reunion venue.
Dr. Habib Macaayong was appointed president of the Mindanao State University System on March 8, 2016.
Macaayong finished his MA at the Ateneo de Davao University and his Doctor of Public Administration at the University of the Philippines-Diliman.
He has been a professor of the MSU main campus since 1981. He is on the Faculty of the Graduate School at the MSU Main campus.
A known peace advocate in Mindanao for the GPH-MILF peace negotiations from 2004-2013, Macaayong is a consultant of the Bangsamoro Development.
In 1999-2000 he served as MSU Vice President for Planning and Development. He was also Vice President for Academic Affairs of the Jamiatu Marawi Al Islamia Foundation in 2003-2004. (RSP)
