MARAWI CITY, June 17 –Youth leaders and government agencies here led a youth caravan Tuesday at the provincial capitol gymnasium to give young people the opportunity to understand and be involved in social issues, and to support the advancement of youth empowerment here, a state media reported.
With a theme “Kabataan, Now Na!,” the event was organized by the Health Organization of Mindanao (HOM) in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
HOM Executive Director Selahuddin Yu Hashim was reported as saying that the caravan seeks to encourage the youth sector to develop a positive change in their outlook and empower themselves with sound and life-changing principles.
It also aims to help them have a common understanding on social issues, create a common voice, and contribute to a bigger vision of creating a better society for all, said the report.
The whole day youth caravan featured various interactive and educational booths from participating government agencies and private organizations who shared their programs and projects on youth development.
